Opportunity Scholarship Program
The Opportunity Scholarship Program expands school choice in North Carolina through scholarship grants for eligible children in kindergarten through 12th grade. This program provides funding of up to $4,200 per year for eligible children who choose to attend a participating nonpublic school.
The ongoing legal challenge to the Opportunity Scholarship program has been resolved as of July 23, 2015. The North Carolina Supreme Court has upheld the constitutionality of the Opportunity Scholarship Program. The State Education Assistance Authority will send funds to the nonpublic schools enrolling scholarship recipients for the 2015-16 school year.
